Anyone going to buy one of these? Looks like you can now buy them from the mint... Expand your coin cover collection with a brand new series! The American Presidency $1 Coin Cover Series will showcase the new Presidential $1 Coins! Beginning the series is the 2007 George Washington $1 Coin Cover. This limited-edition cover—only 50,000 will be produced—features two George Washington $1 Coins from the first day of production, November 9, 2006 (Philadelphia), and November 28, 2006 (Denver). Each cover includes two $1 coins, one each from the United States Mint facilities at Philadelphia and Denver, on a handsome display card with the 39-cent United States Lady Liberty and Flag postage stamp. Additionally, the cover features a portrait of our first President in front of an American flag. The postmark of February 15, 2007, Mount Vernon, VA, marks the day the George Washington $1 Coins were first released to the Federal Reserve Bank and to the public. I Don't think so. thought about it but I know my dad bought 5 of the 2000 Sacs and they have not gone up om value much and I really think these might do the same. the only thought I had is with this beening a smaller mintage for the coin covers of only 50,000 it might go up alittle but I don't have a extra 15.00 dollar right now. that is a Franklin half dollar for my set and I feel that is a beter investment then this cover at this time. but do think the price is far since they did make a smaller intage this time.

And maybe you will get one without the edge inscription. They do look nice.
They would make for an interesting series of PNCs, unlike most that are a one off theme.

I wonder if these coins are handled in a special way for these First Day Coin Covers ? If these coins are hand selected, maybe they will be a high MS with few contact marks...?

Tim. Sorry there not for me, however there are people who collect only these and as for special treatment I'm not sure.

I am not interested in paying 15 dollars for 2 dollars, plus a few dollars for shipping.

Wish I'd been able to find info on older FD coin covers with initial and current selling prices - but I couldn't. So, given how quickly these are selling I DID place order. Website says backordered though, so will just have to wait and see if I receive them. Are these going to be offered for every Presidential $ coin issued?

I agree with justmy2centsworth, There is no published documentation on the values of the FD Coin covers. You would think seeing it is a product of the US Mint that it would at least be listed in the Red Book...
