Is this an 80 over 79 or am I seeing things? The top loop of the second 8 looks "funky". I wouldn't put it past you...

Looks to be MS-63.
Is it me or does the "S" mint mark look like an upside down 5? Maybe it's one of the S over S varieties.

Quote:I wouldn't put it past you... Who me? The slab insert is almost filled up to capacity. There is something about the mintmark that requires some close up images when I get it "in hand".

I have no idea where to place a value on this coin; PCGS - No value listed ebay History - none found Numismedia - Nope VAMWorld - nothing recent (2008 for a NGC version) I did find a couple PL (real close) & DMPL coins but those can't compare Probably paid too much, just south of a 100, but I like it!

Well, of course, I like it and I think the price you paid is well within reason in my opinion. Very nice upgrade!

Quote:Very nice upgrade! Upgrade? Hmmm...I already have my 7070 spot filled (1888-P ANACS MS63PL). Well, I guess that I will have to put together a Morgan dollar Mint Mark Set (D,O,P,S & CC) together. Time to start looking for the the "O" and "D". The "D" is kinda narrowed down to a choice of ONE (1921) and I still want a 1882 O/S or 1900 C/CC. Thanks for the memory jogger!
