It's easy for my eyes to play tricks on me--I flip photos and see what happens.
If it were raised, I would think it would lessen as it passed through LIBERTY.
Interesting idea about the screw--I can almost see indentations from threading.
Whatever caused it, I would bet it happened during the strike--not PMD.

Looks incluse since the shadows are opposite of the shadows on the lettering.

I'm gonna work on it some more in a lil while.Try to make pics with different lighting. If it is struck through, what object would look like that?Still looks a bit like a leg from an insect. It has the lil claw...lol A tough one to figure out.

monika,
You might want to contact Mike Diamond through Coin Worl and see if he wants to take a look at it. He might even post it in an issue of Coin World's Collectors Clearinghouse.

Exactly! Great pics like this one make it pretty clear--flipped for a more natural lighting angle:

Ladies and Gents, we have all seen the famous JFK Lincoln cents with JFKs effigy engraved to the right of Liconln.

Well congrats to monika for finding the first Stargate penny.

My first thought was the thing looked like a larval Goa'uld stalking President Lincoln - approaching him from the back of his head where they like to enter.

Sure to be a million dollar ebay hit!

L@@K! GOA'ULD ON LICOLN CENT - ONE OF A KIND!
Hurry - opening bid only 1,000,000.00. Note he the larval goa'uld is placed strategically to cross out the word LIBERTY in a symbolic statement of taking away the freedom of the individual they use as host!

Seriously though - this is a very cool looking cent. I'd keep it for sure!
