I think this is one. You can't quite see the tail on the 'D', but it is there. Any opinions on the coin grade would be welcome.

Very certain it has not been cleaned. The fields around the legends are clear and there are no brush-like patterns. Under 10x it has the same usual wear abrasions as my ICCS graded coins. I guess visually it depends upon how the light lands on it and which abrasions the light catches. I can imagine this coin has been in many peoples possession over its 150 years. Goodness knows how it has been handled. Here is another image of the same coin under different lighting.

I can see the tail.It is near the bottom of the upright of the E. Great coin--esp. if it is not cleaned---dipped maybe which is OK on these older coins. There is only trace wear on the high points: Eyebrow Top braid Top knot 4 Central laurel leaves I give it AU58-MS60------Very rare Another "Twisted E" coin-- That makes 5 or 6 now

Any chance of getting the twisted E added as a varietal of the 1858 20 cent coin?

Market demand will be the only force to make it a variety---there is little chance of that because the 20 cent is not that popular. A popular error coin would be the 1936 Bar coins.

This 20 cent piece has the D, E, G and the R doubled or re-cut. The re-cuts are mostly seen at the top and interior of each letter, except for the D .

@ devlec . Your DEI looks perfectly normal to me-- just doubled normally. Nicely spaced and equidistant from the rim denticles. Great coin-- no complications with a "twisted E". By the way--- nice hair!

Thanks for the up-date . I only have this one ...and didn't know that doubling in the many letters was the "norm" on the 20 c piece.
