Okay, I was waiting for someone to say that it has been cleaned, because that is what I was suspecting. I don't think it takes away for the eye-appeal too much.

How do you think that affects the value. FMV as a Good coin?

VG8...cleaned...details. Since no one presenting how much they would pay I'm going to step out on a limb and about $12-15. A nice clean example in that grade would go for about $70.

Okay, thanks. I think I overpaid then, but I really couldn't tell that it was cleaned until in hand. How about you? Does it look cleaned from the pictures?

Well, I think the pics on ebay make the coin look more original than your pics. They (the pics) also seemed to mask some of the tics the coin has. When you look close, you an see the "tics" in the ebay pics, but they don't seem as bad. If your pics represent the coin fairly closely, then I would say the used the old "enhance photo" trick to portray the coin in the best possible way and made no attempt to assure the photo resembled the true look of the coin. Maybe not, but it is a possibility.

Yes, that is what I thought, but wanted to make sure it wasn't just me. Contacted the seller about it and he was incredibly friendly. Probably the nicest sounding person I have conversed with on ebay. He offered for me to return it. I think I will do so becuase I want a problem free specimen for my 7070.

Thanks everyone!

Noah, great to hear about your experience with the seller. That's a "few and far between" example from ebay in my experience, glad to hear the outcome.
The pictures on the auction are deceiving to me as well. Seems to me the Brightness levels are jacked up on a number of his auction pictures..IMO

Okay, thanks guys. I realize that I am very lucky to have dealt with this seller. I will certainly leave him a positive feedback, recommend him to others, and continue to look at his items.
