I'm in at AU53 very nice. Hope they didn't give details for the rim, I see some begining of a bump and some small dings on it.

I'm going to be the outlier here and say AU55.

I almost over-looked (took my blinders off) this one while I was searching for a 1809/6 Half Cent; (sellers image) (PCGS Image)

They were a bit conservative IMHO but, that's PCGS.

Wow. That grade surprises me. I wonder what they saw that I didn't...

Very nice looking classic head Half Cent! I really like how the devices pop out, almost an antiqued look. Dirt around the devices with lighter fields can signal cleaning in old copper, but can also occur from normal wear. I can't really tell from these photos. The glossy, almost laquered, surfaces are consistent with an 1835 date, where excellent strikes, and even semi-prooflike appearance, are not uncommon. However, it's very hard to determine from photos whether the surfaces are original. A touch of wear makes me think PCGS probably graded it AU55, though I wouldn't be surprised to see it at AU58. The one question is the rim ding at 12 o'clock. That could net grade it to AU50-53 - or on a bad day, details.

Ha! This is what happens when I don't read to the end of the thread. Well, I think PCGS was very conservative on this one, and that the OP probably got a great deal!
It will look awesome in a high-grade 7070 set!

with both ProfLiz and Panzaldi - don't know if it's worth resubmitting raw, unless you're selling but if you got this beauty at EF money you done good!

I agree that EF45 seems a bit low but it's in a PCGS slab and fits nicely into your slabbed 7070 set. Why throw more money at it if you're going to keep it? Nice pick!

Thanks for the feedback! I am not going to send it in for a regrade, I like just as she is and I don't plan on selling her anytime soon. I feel that I got a good deal from J.J. Teaparty, which coincidentally is the seller of all three of my Half Cents.
