Randy, I cant make out what you are seeing. Try to crop a photo of what you are looking at and size it as large as the site will allow.

Then I will take a second or third look at it.

Tough to tell from such small images; if it's actually "something," it's probably a strikethrough - a piece of string or wire got stuck in the die, and the coin was struck with it in place.

In your last image, it's pretty clear that something's there and it's not gouged into the coin - my first thought in that situation is a strikethrough. Interesting, neat, but not a huge value-adder.

I zoomed in your last photo at 400% and sure enough, I see the upside "2" and what looks like a "4" in front of the "2" (when looking at the photo upside down).

Is the numbers raised or recessed?
