Amazing find
Only gold I've ever found was a 10k toe ring. And that was at a bottom of a pool!

Great find! I've only detected one gold coin - a 1907 Edward VII half sovereign.

Best thing is Rob, I have been over the same area before and completely missed it
I will be back there again soon, It's in a nice little area that the present owner tells me was a trading place where the farm hands used to load up carts and payment was taken, presumably by the land owner.

MetDet71: You obviously understand what 'gold fever' is all about.
You should come the the Australian goldfields 'Golden Triangle in Victoria, for a MetDet holiday!
See if you can find natural gold nuggets. Each is unique in itself.

I would love to do that one year, I bet it's a great feeling finding your own chunk of gold.

If you come to Oz, get onto a couple of the Metdetect forums in Oz first.
You may even be tempted to join one, and swap ideas!

Just in case you do come read my thread "Aussie Gold Finds" it will give you an idea of what you may find when your here,
anythings possible out in the gold fields and I'll give you three examples,
1: a bloke found 43 gold sovereign's detecting and they were all out of the same hole (ref G.G.& T)
2: another found a 1930 penny in the gold fields of W.A.(on display at Coiltek)
3: another found over 80 oz in an area no bigger than a squash court (ref June G.G.& T mag)
so the possibility's are endless.

don't forget to swing
low and slow
and be safe

happy hunting
