The gouge on the reverse would be by AMERICA not UNITED. The area in UNITED does look like something that would be caused by a dent on the reverse or a slight bend in the coin. I agree the left side of the reverse does look like a Cud. It is also in the same place to cause weakness in the same spot on the obv where we see weakness. And you are right about it not being the 64 L.

Actually, the hit on the back is on UNITED, it's 180* rotated

Wait, are you saying this coin is in medal rotation, and not coin rotation? How often do you see that in IHC's?

Looks like a Cud with the corresponding weakness on the obverse.

Beautiful, this is listed in the 2001 'The Cud book' supplement as IC-1864-6R. See http://www.keysquality.com/download...pplement.pdf.

Coin rotation (or coin turn) means if you hold a coin with the obverse right side up, the reverse behind it will be upside down. US coins are in coin rotation. In medal rotation, both the obverse and reverse will be right side up. UK coins are in medal rotation.

IC-1864-6R with a medallic rotation - probably one of a kind.

There's no way to guess the value of a 'one of a kind' coin.

So, get it slabbed so that if at any time you decide to sell it, your buyer will know it is genuine.

Missed that it was 180 degrees rotated. In that case the weakness on the obverse most likely was from the hit on the reverse.

Too bad about the hit--that's a nice rotation! the left of the wreath looks like a Cud.
