That's why I like raw coins: the plastic of slabs always changes the tone and colour of silver coins.

Beautiful coin with awesome surfaces, although I suspect it has been lightly dipped not that long ago... I don't think that did it any harm though, just keep an eye on in it over the next decade. Thanks for sharing, please let us know the outcome of the certification.

Beautiful half dollar. Will come back at least an MS-64 PQ and possibly with a "cameo" designation in the comment line. It will be a flip of the coin for an MS-65 as a result of micro bag marks in front of the King's face. Either way, a high end 1943 with great eye appeal (near 3) is a difficult coin to acquire in MS-64 grade or higher. Glenn

Quite a sharp strike. I have a GB proof five pounds in nearly FDC*. The hair detail on this half is the equivalent of that on the GB coin. Not a cameo. There is an obvious difference in contrast between the detail and fields on each coin. Plenty of Google Images to be found for GB gold proofs of 1937, if you wish to compare. It is my opinion that the the RCM had better and sharper master dies than either The Royal Mint or the Royal Australian Mint (Melbourne) for issued for circulation coins. That is my reason why this half dollar compares so favourably with the GB gold proofs of 1937, as regards hair detail. *FDC = Fleur De Coin = Flower of the Coin. Equal to PF70.

IMO.. 65. A few too many marks and not quite a sharp enough strike for 66.

I think 66 is a longshot to, but agree it's a easy 65. One of the best KGV halfs I have ever seen. Incredible lustre. Please update when it comes back and thanks for sharing.

Grade received today.....
ICCS MS65 1943 50c Far 3.
Next time I'm at ICCS I'll bring this coin to Brian and Scott and ask them if they had any thoughts about grading it ms66.
It's that nice and I believe it deserves strong consideration as a 66.
Also....I noticed the error in my original listing (the title "KGV"?) and I'm surprised no one corrected me on it.

If you do that, bring along four or five of the crappiest George VI ICCS MS-65 50c coins you can find, show them all the coins, and then ask your question about that 1943.

Pretty coin! Now as I'm not yet a real "collector", I'll ask the gauche question: How much is a coin like that worth in today's market? LOL

Trends is $1500.
You may be able to buy a 'not-so-good' ms65 for $750, but I wouldn't want to part with this one for less than a $1200.
I'm somewhat confident it'll grade an ms66 someday or some collector will see the coin is a very high ms65 and will pay the 'extra' premium I'm seeking for this coin.

An absolutely splendid coin, hard to find with such high-quality surfaces and so few marks. Quite a find! Congratulations and thanks for sharing. Best Regards, George
