Awesome collection, paleoguy! Thanks for posting them!

As a matter of interest, has the 2-cent coin been demonetised or is it still legal tender?

@Shaft.. It was a bit pricey due to the rarity.. I can't remember exactly what I paid for it, but I'm thinking it ran neck and neck with the 1864 Small Motto. PG

Well done.
Like you I like the design AND the fact that it's a small set.
I completed mine a couple years back.
And like you I didn't do the proofs.

As usual mine are all slabbed because I like NGC Registry Sets.

@ PG, Yeah.. I would imagine, that both those coins would be quite expensive... great set you have!

A worthy effort here, putting this set together, Paleoguy! That 1872 is a very respectable key coin; one that relatively few collectors ever own.

Many years ago, I happened to acquire a Capital Plastics holder, red in color, that I decided to fill. There were no holes for the Fancy 5 or the 1873. Your set reminds me of that effort. I then decided to match the grade and fill it, settling for VG-Fine. Your key coins, Paleoguy, appear to be in better condition than most others. Have you considered the possibility of matching their condition? IMHO, a well-matched set makes for a great exhibit at shows and club meetings ...

I've long been seeking a counterstamped, 1864 small motto that would complete my set. It took me many years to find a counterstamped 1872, and I wonder if I'll live long enough to ever acquire that last, missing variety!?

thanks for sharing such a awesome achievement... I recently purchased my first 2 cent piece and while researching them I've fallen in love with the odd denominations of coins 2,3 and 20 cent pieces... I'm going to get some albums so I can start buying more.... happy huntings and thanks again for the share.... PEACE ....

One of the posters asked about storage. Since this is a relatively small set to assemble, I've found that antique silverware chests can be modified to store such mini-collections. Also, these can be refinished and contribute to an impressive display. I like the chests that have a lift-out tray, allowing me to store pertinent literature and related items beneath the coins/tokens/medals. Also, I've found that numismatic items that have been housed in wooden boxes have remained unimpaired over the years, even when the box has rested in a basement safe up north.

IMHO, that Two Cent collection of yours, Paleoguy, is well worthy of a fine means of display!

Nice group of coins.

I like the small motto and the 67 DDO the most. I have owned two of each both I believe were in similar condition to yours. It will take some hunting but I may be able to find a photo of them.

Until then here is a 1864 large motto I recently sold in hopes of upgrading soon. Turns out I blew the cash on a Lincoln.
