Ahhhh Ha (subbing for Eureka)! Great that you cleared it up. I've been to the library many time searching for decent numismatic books and have rarely found anything I don't already have in mine; Nothing ever by Bowers.

Glad you said Amazon. Only thing I want right now is the new leather-bound Red Book and the one by Bowers you ordered. Thanks for the info.

Hope that one is a good read.

All the books except the Coins & Collectors book are now in my hands.

I will be posting reviews soon on them, so far I'm currently reading "Treasure in the cellar" and I really am enjoying it. A surprise find while surfing Amazon and seeing it in a similar items list. Fascinating read and I'm only 2 chapters into it!

Jon Alan Boka's Provenance Gallery of 1794 US Large Cents - is wonderful, way better than I hoped, and the copy I received is autographed by him on his Author's Notes page, nice little bonus. This book I will finish up over the weekend but I'm glad it's now in my library it is in my favorite EAC book list so far.

I ordered one more tough book today, well sent of a check anyways for "The Aristocrat: The story of the 1793 Sheldon 15" by Jim Neiswinter
Yep a whole book on one single coin variety. There are a handful of books on a single coin 1913 Nickel, 1894-S Dime, 1804 Dollar, this to my knowledge is the first book on a single copper coin, it is privately published, in a superb hardbound copy with jacket, it may not be around too long, so grab one while you can, it may be worth a small fortune someday (I hope) not that I'm selling my books anytime soon. Cost is $80, $75.00 + $5.00 S&H direct from the author. If you're interested in it message me and I will pass on his contact info to get one. The book will have to do as I will never be able to own a Sheldon 15 unless I cherry pick it, and with the price of 1793 cents in any grade that is pretty slim. Review coming on this one as well. Can't wait.

Does Coins & Collectors have a specific subject, or is it more general information? Everything I have read by Bowers so far I absolutley love so I am curious to hear what you think.

So far that is the only book out of the five I purchased yet to arrive. I'll let you know when I get it in my hands. I have never seen a copy yet. All the other books in my above list have arrived and I'm currently deep into Treasure in the cellar, so far an excellent read, also currently about 1/3 of the way through Provenance Gallery of the Year 1794, US Large Cents, I will be posting a full review of that along with The Aristocrat: The story of the 1793 Sheldon 15 book later this month or early in November.

I looked these up on Amazon and couldn't help buying James Crawford: Master of the Mint at Carson City: A Short Full Life - Rusty Goe, it looks like it is going to be a very interesting read.

Hi Westcoin,

I have not yet read the book Treasure in the Celler. However, I believe have 10 gold dollars from this hoard. They were acquired into the family collection either in the late 1930's or 1940's and are labeled as such.

This is a book I need to read and I am hoping to find some information on how the coins were auctioned.

It's a BIG book! I have a few to get through before I get to read that one, and Bowers book on Numismatcs before the Civil War, I got both because I found them quite cheap on affiliates sites through Amazon, sometimes there are some real bargains there. Just have to keep looking often, and keep them in your wish lists.

It is much larger than I was expecting, I had no idea it was going to be the size of a large text book!

Haven't forgot about the reviews I promised, they will be done soon! The Aristocrat book is amazing as is Al Boka's Provenance Gallery of 1794 Large Cents. I've finished all three (those two) and Coins for Collectors. Just had a few wrenches tossed into my life the past couple of weeks, will hopefully have some time to write up some detailed review with photos by the end of this coming week.

In your library, do you have either
"Patriotic Civil War Tokens Book - George & Melvin Fuld" or
"The Official Red Book: A Guide to Civil War Tokens by Q. David Bowers"
I have been looking to learn more about the Civil War Tokens I already have, and research about future purchases.

On my list Fuzzy, especially the new Bowers Red Book guide. Since I collect 2¢ pieces, Civil War tokens are an obvious next step, though I have not a single one yet.

I have my eye on the Bowers Red Book guide. I may wait to see one at the F.U.N. show in January, or I may get myself an early Christmas present

Hey just saw Dave Bowers is working on a new version of "Coins and Collectors" right now, due out early in 2014! Exciting news - a follow up to his very first book he ever wrote.

I went ahead and ordered "The Official Red Book: A Guide to Civil War Tokens by Q. David Bowers". A web site I frequent was running a special on 3-ring binder pages to hold 20 2x2 flips, so I ordered them, the book, and a few coins. Estimated delivery is 11/20. I will give it my review
