My first thought when I saw this thread was the Eisenhower dollar as jbuck is known for his apreceation for Dwight D Eisenhower. Congratulations on your addition.

Thank you.

This was a surprisingly difficult coin to find.

I have the proof already. It is in a Prestige Proof Set my mother got me when it was released by the Mint. Having sentimental value, there is no way I am breaking him out.

To avoid the duplicate, I wanted the uncirculated for my 7070. However, every show seemed to be lacking them (although the proof always seemed to be in abundance). I am so glad that I finally found one this weekend.

Very Nice

I too have the proof ( as part of the 1990 Prestige set) , I don't think that I have ever seen the UNC in person.

This is the first uncirculated ECCD that I have ever seen in person. It amazes me that it took me this long to find one. Sure, the mintage is only 241,669, but come on!

Congrats on the pickup! Makes perfect sense considering your fondness for Eisenhower dollars.

Do you have a prefence between the two portraits (circulating dollar vs. commemorative dollar)?

I honestly knew what this coin was going to be by the thread title only .... c'mon ... what else would jbuck the avowed Ike fan use to fill the final 7070 dollar hole?

Congratulations on the lovely addition.

There was an outside chance he would have gotten one of these for his 7070.

While the circulating portrait is my sentimental favourite, I feel that the dual portrait on the commemorative dollar is the best obverse design of any coin (or two coins) I own.

Yes, there was, and for most of this year it was my plan. However, I have finally resolved to keep my 7070 a 19th and 20th Century set, making the Five Star Commemorative Dollar ineligible. These will have to remain in their OGP (unless I decide to start a modern Commemorative Dollar Dansco album).
