@1893S: Gotchya.. Idk what I said wrong to make you so assertive towards me. I posted this message in order to get other people's opinions about these coins because I wanted to know more about them. I got it now. They have been polished. Thanks.

@Basebal21;@NathanASE; All the silver coins she has are all in velvet cases and/or hard-back display cases & are sealed shut (I actually broke one earlier when getting the 1921D & 1923 out to look at them)! So, you're probably right in that they were cleaned/polished before she had received them. At least they're real though. And yes, she gave me a lot to remember her by!

They've definitely been shined up, but if they're from your grandmother and you like them, that's all that matters.

And the 1882S MD does not appear to be polished to me. Its definitely in great condition, and much darker in color than the other two..and yes, my phone may be a little messed up. I dropped my phone last week and cracked the entire screen :/ I'll try to see if I can get a better picture.

And this is my newly acquired collection! :

Looks like you got quite the haul. Not to derail the thread, but what are in the blue Whitman folders in the back?

I also have a lg. hard-back sleeve of 1C Indian Head Pennies dating from late 1800's to 1908, Rolls of Barber dimes, some Spanish Milled Silver coins from 1745 (Not proven/disproven to be from shipwreck, although have Certs of Auth.), Both Walking & Standing Liberty's, Peace & Morgan dollars, about 2 handfuls of miscellaneous coins from all over the world while my grampa was in WWII, a couple different mint sets, silver certificates from 1899-1953 & a lot of $2 bills (mint/near-mint all w/ red seals & low print serial #'s), and lastly a whole lot of unsorted/unrolled coins never gone through since she got them! I've almost filled all the books up and have hardly made a dent yet!

what do you collect or want to collect?

Nice haul, that's quite the start up collection! Whats there for other Morgan's? Dates and mintmarks? And also what are in those two flat boxes on the back right in front of the folders? One maybe an ASE set? The other I have no idea...

Nice haul!

Those silver dollars are definitely keepers because of their sentimental value.

to the hobby!

Great start to a collection! Just wanted to make sure you understood that the 21 and 23 had altered surfaces. Good luck!

nice heirloom lala

go through those albums nice and slowly, taking your time to identify key dates and than certainly post pics for us to see! The barber roll you mentioned, is it a single year issue roll or a roll of various dates and mint marks? also, look at the Lincoln Penny album and see if you have a 1909-S VDB. If so, that's quite a penny to have, very valuable.

Quite a few Whitman folders there! How full are they? Any key dates? Check the unsorted/unsearched coins for some good dates as well.

I agree with the majority of the opinions rendered so far: those dollars have been polished. They would not slab, and are worth silver bullion value.
