I also love War Nickels! I have found 4 so far! It makes Nickel roll hunting just That more fun! (tried to take some pics of mine but they are apparently just as photogenic as Indian head pennies! xD) ,Trevor

I love them as well. I have searched some boxes of nickels and usually find 1 or 2 per box. Once a friend of mind found 4 or 5 in a customer wrapped roll. Anyone ever find a roll of War Nickels? Just wondering. Also, do you think they are as easy to sell as other silver coins?

A dealer offered me 2 double row boxes of "common" pre 1960 Jefferson nickels for six cents each. He said he paid 5.5 cents each and just wanted to flip em. Ok by me! There were approximately 400 total coins, all had been 2x2'd. Went through them this weekend: Results---- 14 silver war nicks, AU 39-D, BU 50-D, 2-AU 38-S, 380 common early Jeffersons and two like new double row boxes. I'm a happy camper!

Silver content aside, they are wonderful pieces of history! I echo ASLAN's sentiment, would love to see some images. Thanks for the interesting post!

I agree all day that nickels are worth it. I search 2 boxes a week, and find at least 1 in every box! (5 in one box is my best..) Plus you fins Buffalos, some 50d and 38d, proofs, and I'm still waiting for my V! Dimes are terrible around here and so have half boxes. If I deviate from nickels, Its for Customer wrapped old rolls my bank friends save me. Looking through $2000 in halfs and dimes for $10 worth of silver is crazy!

. I used to do halves and dimes. I used to find tons of silver. Lately it's been skunk city. Now I do pennies and nickels. You never get skunked on wheat pennies and you usually always find a buffalo or War Nickel in each box.
