I predict that by the end of the week you will have the whole series and will be ready to move on to Peace dollars. Happy collecting!

Nice one for sure! Tone or tarnish? up to you but it's go nice crisp lines lightly circulated but not like she's showing her 128 years half of mine are pocket coins heavily circulated and badly worn, no one's putting numbers and I'm still just guessing but I'd say 53 at least maybe up to 60 even. Great coin to the club!

There's no such thing as just one. Have you checked out VAMworld?

As noted above, VAMworld is a great place to hunt for info on Varieties within the Morgan dollars, specifically this page helps out alot; http://www.vamworld.com/Morgan+VAMs+By+DateThe eye appeal is sweet, if your happy with the purchase, then that is all that matters. Morgans rank up there in respect to eye appeal, often I see the eye appeal push the grade up a bit, especially when it comes to the Toned Morgans - those are my Favorite !

Nice Morgan! I do not have many morgans myself but they are awesome! I also happen to have a toned 1886. Welcome to Morgan Mania!

Thanks for the kind words. While I won't be rushing out to buy Morgan dollars it is nice to have one in the collection. More will be added slowly but surely if I see a price I like. I like my coins to look like they have a little character to them which is why I love this coin. My next goals for American coins are some of those nice early American large cents. I really need to track down one of those Dansco 7070 albums. That is basically what I want out of American coins. One example of each. Thinking out loud. As for VAMing I don't think I could get into it. I have Late Roman Bronzes if I want to go into small details that change the coin!

Silver prices dropped again this morning, now is the time to buy, premiums will go up but, it's under $20, when the price is over 30 for an ounce of silver premiums will be lower, but still you'd have to pay more. If you are looking at a GEM proof key date the price will not be affected by silver prices much. If you want hole fillers get them now, if you can afford and find them. Prices may keep dropping but Morgan's will always be beautiful.

I love the toning on your Morgan, Whizb4ng! Congratulations on your acquisition! I have a soft spot too for my first Morgan - an 1882o that was given to me by a family friend when I was about 17 - she was a schoolteacher who spent a year working in an English school and met my Mom there. When she found out I collected coins she gave me a 1966 Kennedy half, a few wheat pennies and the Morgan.

Just wait until you get the taste for CC mint Morgans. I could sell all my other Morgans and move on, but the CC's you'd hafta pry from my cold, dead fingers...lol.

Congrats on the new purchase for your collection, always nice to add something we don't necessarily "collect" but always wanted an example of. I'm afraid I've fallen down the proverbial rabbit hole with my recent purchase of a US 1794 Large cent, now I want them all, and I'm considering selling off my Morgans to begin collecting them. Then I think even if I sell off all my Morgans I would only be able to buy one or two better varieties, should have started the 1794 cent collection a long time ago. I envy you if you start chasing after the VAMs their a cruel mistress.
