I'm trying out "The High Road", first, which is sort of tough for me considering I'm really a knee-jerk reaction kind of guy. I sent him the following message. We'll see if it does any good: Dear jonnyscv, Dear Mr. Alexander - I was very surprised to see that you left me a negative feedback on the 1918-D nickel you purchased from me. In 12 years of selling on ebay and in over 15,000 transactions I have never experienced a single negative feedback until now. As you might imagine, I found it rather upsetting, especially when you consider that the reason you mentioned for the negative feedback was because the coin was acid treated. If you go back and read the listing for that coin you will see that I mention quite prominently that it is a restored coin and that it was chemically treated. If you should have a change of heart and would like to contact ebay to reverse that feedback based on what I've said, I would certainly be grateful. Although the return privilege has technically expired, I would be happy to return your full purchase price and let you keep the coin at no charge. Please advise. Steve

Quote: Coin was treated with acid, could not tell from photo. I would laugh if it were not so absolutely ridiculous. Of course your full page education on chemical restoration must have been confusing. Quote:*Note: ebay has advised me that, in their view, "restored" is not a sufficient enough term for me to use in describing the process applied to these nickels. They gave me 4 choices, all of which I consider to be derogatory in nature, but the least insulting choice is "chemically altered." Nicely played! Good luck, I hope you are able to get this feedback corrected.

Well done, Steve. It reflects favorably on you. If it doesn't work, though, don't hesitate to pull the trigger.

Class act on your part, this guy is an idiot to say the nicest thing about him. I've added him to my blocked buyer list on my auction, he probably won't ever try and bid on my stuff - but on the off chance he does - he can't. I recommend everyone here on CCF do the same.

After a while it's a numbers game. Every one of us, no matter how professional, is going to run into a "winner" eventually. Nothing we can do about it but try to minimize our risk by doing the best we can on a daily basis. Glad you will still have 100% positive feedback. Keep up the good work! This forum is great to vent about stuff edit: after reading arianzo's post again, that's what stinks about ebay is the ability for a bad guy to pop up tomorrow with a different username.

I hadn't attempted to block him until right NOW. However, it DID show that I had successfully added him to my blocked bidder list, so I'm not sure why arianzo could not....?

Hmmm maybe because I use ebay.ca and you ebay.com? Do we need to block the buyer only where the buyer is registered?

He hasn't responded to my email for a refund and a free coin and he hasn't returned my calls....so...my follow-up comments on ebay's feedback system go like this: On the negative feedback he left for me I wrote: "Mean or ignorant? Malicious feedback OR didn't read description? ebay advised." On the positive feedback I initially left for him I wrote a follow up feedback which reads: "Left inappropriate feedback for me. Reported him 2 ebay. Contact me for details." Bah. I doubt either will accomplish anything, but it felt better than just sitting here wounded.

He's had 5 since the time I realized he negged me. Hasn't received any more since then and doesn't appear to have bid on anything since then. He's actually been registered on ebay since 12/25/2011, but does not appear to have purchased or sold anything until January 2014. It just has a "funny" feel to it. Like he had an axe to grind with me, so he buys a coin from me and a couple other coins from someone else and also a couple non-coin things. Then he negs me and gives positives to everyone else. To paranoid little old me, it just feels like those other purchases were only to give the look of legitimacy to what he did to me. If he doesn't respond to those two feedback follow ups I zinged him with, it'll just add more fuel to my fire.
