...in over 12 years of selling and over 15,000 transaction.

Newbie buyer - Jonnyscv - and mine was the FIRST feedback he ever left in his short time on ebay.

I used the "Report Buyer" button that ebay supplied, but doubt it'll do me any good.

This would be a great time for all you folks who subscribe to the "Don't leave a feedback for your buyer until he leave one for you" to say "I told you so!"

I know, I know. CCF'ers have way more class than that.

Just venting.

I'd call them, it states clearly in the listing what's going on with it.
Rest in Peace

Just goes to show you it's inevitable that everyone will encounter an idiot. How can anyone leave that feedback for a restored Buffalo auction.

No matter how honest efficient you are it is inevitable that you will come across one of these germs.
It's a bit like stubbing your toe in the dark, Hurts like billyo at first but you will eventually get over it.
As there isn't a great deal you can do about it just mark it up to experience and get on with it

If you are on ebay long enough you will eventually run into a gem like this. It's inevitable and it a happens to all Sellers no matter the quality, descriptions or customer service most Sellers provide.

As others have said, just reply to the feedbacks with honest comments and move on. It's not worth the worry. Be sure and block that ID and make notes of the Buyers address and Zip in case they try to come in under a new ID and harm you again.

You can contact ebay and get them to change or remove the feedback. I know people who work for big seller like APMEX and they said that they do it all the time. With 15,000 transactions, and since coins net much higher prices generally than cheap Chinese Jewelry (I was suprised to see how many of these Hong Kong seller had 50,000-100,000 feedback), that you can be considered a top seller and make ebay give you preferential treatment. First try contacting the buyer to see if they will change their feedback. Best of luck.

He's unhappy that the date was restored, even though the entire auction copy was about how the coin was restored, with an exhaustive description of the process. It's beyond ludicrous, and only self control is keeping the Bad Word Filter from getting a workout here.

You gotta pursue this one, weerdsteev. Follow BStrauss' advice first - me, I'd say something like, "Guess you're not into reading auction descriptions, eh?" - but that's only me.

Don't let your positive feedback go that quickly. There are to many new buyers that come in and try to act like they know everything and don't even read the description. Make sure to get that buyer and have ebay change his feedback.

I'm trying out "The High Road", first, which is sort of tough for me considering I'm really a knee-jerk reaction kind of guy. I sent him the following message. We'll see if it does any good:

Dear jonnyscv,

Dear Mr. Alexander - I was very surprised to see that you left me a negative feedback on the 1918-D nickel you purchased from me. In 12 years of selling on ebay and in over 15,000 transactions I have never experienced a single negative feedback until now. As you might imagine, I found it rather upsetting, especially when you consider that the reason you mentioned for the negative feedback was because the coin was acid treated. If you go back and read the listing for that coin you will see that I mention quite prominently that it is a restored coin and that it was chemically treated. If you should have a change of heart and would like to contact ebay to reverse that feedback based on what I've said, I would certainly be grateful. Although the return privilege has technically expired, I would be happy to return your full purchase price and let you keep the coin at no charge. Please advise. Steve

Coin was treated with acid, could not tell from photo.

I would laugh if it were not so absolutely ridiculous. Of course your full page education on chemical restoration must have been confusing.

Quote:
*Note: ebay has advised me that, in their view, "restored" is not a sufficient enough term for me to use in describing the process applied to these nickels. They gave me 4 choices, all of which I consider to be derogatory in nature, but the least insulting choice is "chemically altered."

Nicely played!

Good luck, I hope you are able to get this feedback corrected.

Well done, Steve. It reflects favorably on you. If it doesn't work, though, don't hesitate to pull the trigger.

Class act on your part, this guy is an idiot to say the nicest thing about him. I've added him to my blocked buyer list on my auction, he probably won't ever try and bid on my stuff - but on the off chance he does - he can't. I recommend everyone here on CCF do the same.
