It looks real to me but would not buy it or recommend buying it. I'm just finding it hard to believe after 105 years not one person and I mean "Not ONE Person" had enough foresight to have it authenticated & graded. I'd probably bid 10 or 15 bucks just as a novelty. There's a lot of people out there with deep pockets & big dreams. Let em dream

Does the "B" in VDB look suspect? Kinda hard to see, but middle bar looks a bit horizontal. I also checked sellers recent sales and he just sold an S VDB. I checked the listing, and again, the photo is a little blurry, but the "B" also looks a little suspect. No accusation here, just food for thought.

The "error" is real the coin is fake. The mint mark looks wrong to me.

DrDon--yeah, I wasn't completely sold on the shape of those "S" marks.

The S marks do appear slightly different, but also blurry on the second strike. One 9 appears to point more downward than the other in 09. hmmm...

Wow...I'm not knowledgeable enough to give a positive judgement....however its pretty convincing. I tried looking for any type of chip....scratch...etc..and don't really see it....there are differences but the planchet was hit once with tremendous force on the first strike...so the planchet was changed...then part of it was struck again...of course there are differences. I do not collect coins like this...but if I did I would want it slabbed by PCGS cause I don't know enough.

Even the reverse doubled image is 180 degrees off. Not dots on the VDB. Wrong mint mark shape and no known locations for the mint mark for that issue.

Pawns: Check out the link I posted yesterday. Compare the mintmarks and decide for yourself.

Thanks DrDon for that link. Mint mark is clearly too high and to the left. No to take the thread sideways, but here's one he recently sold. This one looks better as far as the mint mark is concerned, but the B in VDB looks odd to me...kinda hard to see though.

edweather, that one's easier to compare to the 4 mintmark positions.
There's no S-VDB with the S that low and to the left of the "0". Also, check out the shape of the date!
So the general consensus is the whole double-struck coin is fake? Maybe that's why the seller never got it slabbed

The last time I looked it had been bid up to $1300 with more than a day left.
Now it says "This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available."
I e-mailed ebay yesterday about it but have not heard back.
