Proof details - PVC?

I have no clue. This isn't any area I collect. Just taking a guess and learning here.

interesting
its not PVC damage, just the way the toning evolved on the surface
its not a proof, its a business strike
there was a reuse of the proof dies to make business strikes and the devices are as bright as they are due to what was most likely a polishing of the dies
the date on the coin is weakly struck

reveal will come, we'll see more guesses now that there was the reveal of the strike type

That toning is really odd.

you're seeing it through diffused lighting. I'll post some pics of the coin on regular cam shots in the slab when I post the reveal and you'll see how its reflects as an ocean electric green in the light.

I sold an 1883 dime to Moe145 here on the CCF over the summer and it had this same type of "blotchy" and erratic tone spots similar to this one.

You don't see Liberty Seated business strikes with the cameo look very often.

With the newest pictures, I agree with the 63.

In your first set, the fields looked to have a bit more chatter.

A Very Nice Coin!

Guys, there's two different coins

I showed the 1865 in response to banknotes saying he had not seen a PL cameo effect on a business strike before

The 1868 is actually an MS62

I guess I was too busy drooling over the coins to pay attention to the date!
