Definite FAKE. Moreover, the seller is a CROOK. He faked his feedback. Love this one:

Yes, the pics are horrible. But I can clearly see the 7s look like they were done with a sharpie. And WITHOUT my glasses. Clearly fake and should have been reported.

That first coin was reported at least once--dunno how that sold. Even with the lousy pics, the "bold N" is very apparent.

While only bidding on a graded and authenticated 1877 will ensure you get an authentic coin, knowing how to spot a real one that is not slabbed can be more rewarding.

Ive bought three raw 1877s in the last few years, came back VF35, vg8, g6. Anyone buying a rare date needs to do research before buying. Just google "1877 fake" and you can get images of real and fake ones and know what to look for. I get better deals on raw coins.

I believe this coin is genuine and it appears to be die pair #1. According to Snow these are the attributes:
1. date is close together, 1 and 8 are almost touching
2. some weakness on right side of obverse
3. 3rd diamond from bottom is weak
4. on reverse, light clash mark above of 'O' in ONE, looks like a 100 degree angle. (backwards 'L')

That being said why is this coin not in a slab.

Might be my eyesight but if I saw that on the ground, I'd just kick it.

He's back...this one looks suspicious to me due to 77's look way off and looks like no shallow N. Hard to believe people are actually bidding on this one.

No way I'd touch it. If unsure on 1877's, buy a reputable TPG'd coin. Don't take the risk.

That one's definitely a fake--"bold N" reverse.

Why anyone would bid on what they believe to be a raw key date coin with such poor pictures amazes me!
