I don't think this variety carries much of a premium. I wouldn't pay much more than whatever the grade of the coin goes for.

The first coin, which appears to be an original-looking ~VF30, is more than reasonable for $14, considering the variety.

I had the one that sold for $14 one on my watch list and would have gone up to $16 but I forgot to bid.

This one looks promising, but the reverse looks pretty weak/damaged.

This is a common variety and should not warrant much of an additional premium. In high Mint State condition, there might be a small premium, but not much. Here is mine, S-4b.

Paid $250 for this one in MS65BN. I bought the coin for the beautiful colors, not the variety. The variety was a bonus.

Thanks for the info. Will check out the link. I have volume 1 of Snow's attribution guide that covers FEC & will check into other volumes.

Nice looking coin RedRaider.

I think you would be better off buying Snow's online edition. His books are way out of date from what I see posted here.

Buy his electronic guides. Those are up to date and will pay for themselves over time with varieties you are able to pick.

Wow--nother great coin, RedRaider!
$65 is a good price for all the 1856-1909 guides, I'll do that.

I like physical books. I also like relatively current information. Does anyone know how far out of date the books are?

I have the online edition. When I look up a particular variety I will print out that page. So, in about 20-30 yrs. I will have printed out the whole guide.

If you call or email Snow, he would answer all your questions about the guide.

Yeah--I understand that. But it looks like Mr. Snow isn't publishing those in print anymore. I have 3 Snow attribution guides: 1859-69, 1870-89, and 1900-09. They're a couple years old, so they miss some of the recent varieties (but they have all the major ones). They're in good shape--I'll give you a deal if you want'em. PM me.
