Didn't need to clean the crud in order to see the obvious ring around the coin-don't bother with us little guys if it's a waste of your time

See if you can depress it with a toothpick, if you cant depress it at all, then its a circular die crack. If its a crack its the first one I've seen like that.IMO

It might be very slight split plating like a coin wrapper may have caused. It would make that area raised?

And on the obverse you can see it faintly around the whole coin rim most prominent from 11 to 2 o'clock

I have a 1989 that is very similar and I concluded it was a die crack, deterioration with some split plating if that's any help. I'm a newbie so I'm still learning and I may be wrong.

I suspect this is a case of cracked copper plating. It's very rare for a die crack to form such a perfect semicircle (although I've seen some Peace dollars with cracks of this kind).
Error coin writer and researcher.

Yup your right bpoc-interesting replies thanks-mabi I'll submit it with one of my 5 coin specials to ngc-cheap enough to see what they come up with-and no problem raymo,I have a sense of humor it just gets a little frustrating when you already feel like you may be asking some stupid questions when your just trying to learn as much as you can-I can be one of the biggest wise guys u'll meet lol-sometimes things come across the wrong way when your on forums-I will lighten up tho,lol
