I'd like to see somebody come through my register with that bill.
I "search" through every bill customers pay with to look for errors, unique serial numbers, etc.
For this matter, I seriously hope the bills used in the video are not actual examples of the notes in question.
A series 2006 bill that begins with a Y for the serial number, hah.

Kevin, if you don't mind could you elaborate on your comment about the "Y". I know very little about currency but, I love to learn.
Thanks Cory

I don't know that much about currency either, but for the newer, 1996+ series of US currency (except 1 dollar bills, which still use the old format), the first letter of the serial number corresponds to the note series. Take a look at anything larger than a 1 dollar bill in your possession.
Any series 2009 notes? Notice how they all start with a J.
2006 starts with an I.
And so on. They're not perfectly chronological, but every series will have start with the same letter.
Now I should put it out there:
I'm not saying the average consumer would notice. They probably wouldn't at all.
But if you looked at each bill carefully like me (to check for unique numbers), you might just notice that the numbers are flat out wrong.

Interesting, Now I pose a question. If someone would happen to find one of these fake bills is it illegal to own? Or if it is held as a collectible like a Henning Nickel is it legal? Not sure if anyone here will be able to answer with anything other than speculation but, it would be fun to look for them.

I'm not sure, but I want to think that something states that you are obligated to report counterfeit currency that you received. It bothers me how arrogant this guy is about his counterfeits when they don't even look THAT great, at least as shown in the picture on this article. http://www.inquisitr.com/1245261/fr...-us-dollars/

I'd like to think the Secret Service is all over this guy, no matter what the press says.

When I look at the picture from this http://www.inquisitr.com/1245261/fr...-us-dollars/ posted article, the counterfeit is not so good. I've seen better fakes. LS23338188U is nonsense. Mr. Jackson and the Eagle are also not perfect. Unfortunately, bills are for most people only a method of payment. Most Americans probably do not know what means the letter number combination in the bottom row. In Europe we have because of the high number of currencies much wilder stories about faked bills. For a seasoned US paper money collector that "Y" that begins the serial would tip them off right away. Apparently the guy did not do his research.

Pretty obvious it is a fake from just looking at Jackson's face and the bleached features. Not to mention the different font used for the serial numbers. Amateur fake in my opinion.

I guess it serves the U.S right for having 1950's currency. But he does deserves what the bankers got in the U.S.
