Take it into your local coin shop, they should be able to help determine its authenticity. Doesn't look bad to me other than its toning. That could be from cleaning.

My problem is I don't have a local coin shop. The closest one is an hour away and I am working full time this summer. I feel like some of the questionable features and diameter variability came from the fact that this was the first full year of the steam press and the mint hadn't quite figured things out yet. What is something else I can do?

Now that I have taken a closer look at it, I also am questioning it's authenticity. Look on photograde to see what Bust halves in this grade should look like.

I see no reason to question authenticity. XF40( details if you say its cleaned, but I dont see obvious cleaning in the photos).

Quote: The diameter of CBHs is a bit variable since these coins were struck in an open collar press. Notice the fishtailing on the reverse peripheral devices- that is an indicator of significant radial expansion of the planchet during striking. -biokemist (hope he's fine with me quoting him...) Anyway, so maybe I'm wrong.
