John 1 - your link seems to go to the Aven 26700-302 for $138. Is that the one you meant or was it the Aven 26700=300 for $75?

I can't comment from experience as I've yet to purchase or use one myself. But my observation from past posts has to do with control of the built in lighting.
I believe some are happy with the lighting their scope provides, but some seem to struggle with glare on shiny coins at first, and seem to go to clever or great lengths to cover up or defuse the built in lighting.
I like the idea of having built in LED lights and at least two light intensity settings, but I will probably make sure it has the option to control the on/off of built in lights for when I prefer to use natural or some other external lighting source if needed.

Whatever one you get you will want to get a real stand for it. The type stand that comes with the auction you linked is crap and you will hate it.

It's 44302,1.3MP and it's just barely ok.The problem is with the lights on it as is most of the low priced ones.My nephew has a Dino-Lite and it is a lot nicer then mine but cost around $300. John1 |

Also the cheap scopes have plastic lens in them. It makes copper look pink and not real clear. The lighting is always a problem like John1 mentioned. Best to get a scope without a light. On mine it lasted one day and then I took it off and used something else. For lighting you need a single light source that is diffused. Not too bright and not too dim. Get the right setup the first time and stop throwing away good money. Save you $10 bills when you get them in change for your scope fund. (Ten dollar bills are used less in change and when you sock one away it is not as strong a hit as a Twenty would be.) Then when you have enough then get the right one. A lot of wrong ones out there also.

I will wait and save my money for a good one like the dinolites. I have heard they are really good for coins. Thanks for all the info.

I bought a cheapo endoscope...28 bucks off Amazon...yes, the LED lights are too bright, so, I put matte tape over tube end(which also protects slabs from scratching)...bonus with this device? Super closeups of notching in DDO-DDR-RPM-OMM's...pics saved into hard drive for ebay sales...I love it...and, on weekends, I make spare change doing colonoscopies for 100 dollars a pop....    |

Here's 2 I just took, with the "supereyes" endoscope......1976 25c struck on 10c scrap....closeup of Q..in QUARTER..and..drummer's hand..not great..but, for basic shots, I'm happy...my Olumpus VR-370 camera does the main pic photo's..have to use 2 lights, or, rotate in natural light for no shadows...   |

Kris Hello Kris - I am curious about which Dinolite you are thinking of buying - seems like a lot of different models available... |

Why would one need a microscope? I have a 30x and I can't even fit a mint mark in the frame.
