Stop here afterwards. Best steak sandwich in Philly. Much better than Pat's or Gino's. It's a bit of a walk from the mint but worth it. From the mint entrance, walk down 5th st until South st and go left on South. It will be a block up. Line can be long on weekends.

I was at the Philly Mint during the CCF coin show. It was an awesome tour! I had my phone camera and took plenty of pictures. Nobody told me anything.

Welcome! Unfortunately, the current Philadelphia Mint building dates from 1969. If you want to visit the mint where your Belgian WWII coins were struck, you need to go a little farther north and west, to this building at 1700 Spring Garden Street, which is now part of the Community College of Philadelphia:

It's definitely a cool experience! I visited the Mint in 2010 and was also able to get the latest America the Beautiful Quarters. And who doesn't love a coin gift shop?

Message me before you leave. I live in Philadelphia; perhaps we could talk a bit over a cold beverage.

I went at age 11, and wasn't really into collecting then. It would be fun to see the mint again.

The mint has a cool little museum with some early presses and some coins to drool over. Not to mention, you get to see Peter the eagle, in all his stuffed glory. He was the mascot for the mint in the 1830's and provided a model for many of the engravings of eagles. Also, the mint is a block away from Independence Hall. Schedule in a little extra time and take the tour. It is pretty amazing to stand in the room where the United States of America was formally created. You have to get a ticket for the tour first at the visitors center. They only allow so many tours, so it may be worth it to go there first. Also, the Liberty Bell is in the same area. Lots to see!

Oysterk, Quote: Hey, do you think their 1/10 oz. gold eagles are worth it at $152 in the gift shop? A good question but lets not hijack this thread. In all respect. Post the question in another thread.
