I can just make out the W in WE, on the reverse the bow is smooth but ribbons are distinct. Looks like a VG-10 to F-12 to me, unless it's on ebay, in which case it's a "HIGH GRADE" XF-AU.

I was going to say an F+ to be honest, it has better detail than the 1864 2 cents I have here - probably more of an f-12, the detail is good...

VF - The grains on the reverse seem pretty sharp; the bowknot looks like it has some definition and a good part of the horizontal shield lines are there.

I was thinking it was a good grade too, but when I saw the pessimistic grades of the others I think it affected my judgement

F-15!

Since I can't see 'WE', I can't go higher than VG-8.

That is a small motto, isn't it?
I would grade it F-12

Grade: VG-8

First of all, it appears to be a small motto (?) - the "D" in "GOD" is wider and more a square on the small motto type. I have a Large Motto example (ANACS AU50), and although that's where it's easiest to see the difference. It's actually not that easy to see on my pix, but the "D" is noticeably taller and slimmer than on yours.

According to Q.D. Bowers in his GUIDEBOOK TO UNITED STATES TYPE COINS (2005, p. 79), is "rare." But the 2008 Guidebook (p. 121), the prices indicate a scarce, but not a rare coin. The price for a Small Motto G4 in the 2008 Guidebook is around $120; F12 is $250.

Obv - "WE" in motto is largely worn off; horizontal lines on sheild more than 50% worn flat; verticle lines - lines within vertical lines showing only slight detail.
Rev - bow is mostly worn, vegitation is outlined and slightly raised, but shows little detail.

(I just read the rest of the thread, and I got the type right!)
