I would think they should be removed from ebay ENTIRELY as you freely admit you are selling ALTERED coins. In my book as a long time dealer and an ANA member just about the same as selling counterfeits. This my personal opinion for what it is worth. Jack

Quote:I would think they should be removed from ebay ENTIRELY as you freely admit you are selling ALTERED coins while I'm not a fan of these (personal tastes) there is obviously an artsie market for them. if you went this far you would have to remove (amongst other things) every piece of coin jewelry to. OP: by calling them "toned (AT)" and expecting people to either know what that means or ask questions, will not gather much support here... just be honest and call them what they are, otherwise it gives the impression that you are still trying to fool people.

That's just a temporary fix. We all know there are 1000's of coins on ebay that perhaps need to be changed or whatever. Coins cut into jigsaw puzzles, cufflinks, necklaces, coloured coins the list goes on. It's a buying platform and a buyers market. So let the buyers decide I say.

Coin jewellery is a totally different deal. Altered coins are just that........ Made to deceive ,until op was called to task here on the ccf. He was saying these were original!

They are original, unique, special, etc. And clearly highly sought after, collectors are looking for new coins. I suppose cleaning coins in any manner is taboo as well, they're not "original" either. Who hasn't got a great deal on a 1926 far 6 or 1921 Dime(lol)? That had a touch of black residue and took it off. Oops not original.

Anywho, this thread has gotten way off topic since it's in the grading section. It's taking up real estate and it's mutliple views are taking away from collectors reading up on actual grading issues. I'm out on this one. Lol, that's awesome the ball is on fire. Hot topic!!

It is a 2012 zinc penny, it's cut into 13-14 pieces. I've taken it apart, and surprisingly hard to put back together because it's so light and pieces more everywhere. I picked it up for 20.12 lol on ebay. I sold it for 150.00 at my booth in Woodstock. Fairly rare items.
