Quite a few adjustment marks but aside from that if there is luster present I don't see why this can't be MS-62.

UNC details. Ugly coin with severe adjustment marks and appears to have a rim file from 1PM to 3PM on the obverse.
Coin was FOOLISHLY cracked-out of a "Col" H.R. Green MS-62 holder. Coin has lost it's provenance and probably worth much less than the $41,125 the owner paid recently for it at Heritage:

Why was it cracked out? What a BIG shame.
Can it ever regain its provenance because the marks, toning, imperfections, etc. match up with the pics of the coin in the EPN pedigree slab?

This seller...
And if he just crossed it over instead of cracked it and resent it, it would get the "Newman Collection" designation.

If it was plated in the Newman sale and the coin can be matched with the plate, you could probably get the pedigree back.

If I had the cash available I would not buy this coin. It's ugly regardless of the grade. Just my opinion of course...

For that price, there needs ro be far more eye-appeal. If I had that much to spend on a single coin, this one wouldn't even make my list. I'd sooner buy bullion than this one ...

Well, unfortunately, if you want a Mint State 1795 O-124, you're stuck with this one. It's the only known Mint State example. That fact, along with the coin's unique appearance, should make the recovery of the provenance relatively easy.

I think the coin is "spot on" graded 62 by NGC. In hand, the coin probably looks much better than the pics represent.

Even with the adjustment marks giving explanation to for the scratches I don't think this coin exceeds AU. And if I had 65K to spend on coins I would have a chain cent;D

I don't think the rim damage above RI on the reverse s from adjustments though. The damage isn't too severe though.

Yeah, I was a bit curious about calling a coin with rim dings Mint State. Takes a lot more than a bag hit to ding a rim.
