Thanks, the VG up front makes sense to me.
Hope I can reciprocate, ie if ever you have a question about worldcoins, especially of the older type.

Given the color, I suspect it's spent a bit of time in the ground. Not long enough to kill the coin, but enough that a TPG would probably give it a Details grade. Doesn't mean I don't like the look.

I'm of the opinion this coin is better than VG/F. I would venture a VF-20 grade, possible environmental damage.

F15 details, surface corrosion and damage. This is the fancy 5 if the upper serif on the D of United is full then it is a rarer variety, the serif can be full, partial or missing.
Does not add much extra value except to the half dozen die variety collectors of these.

Thanks 'westcoin', doubt there are many variety collectors for US coins here in Australia.
But just out of curiosity, is there an online reference with pictures of those varieties for the 2 cents?

Don't know of any website with photos of all the varieties. Frank Leone wrote a book on the 1864 die varieties, it is out of print and not the easiest thing to find, expect to pay North of $75.00 for a copy these days. His plan was to write a separate volume for each date, though he tells me that that probably won't happen. I wish he would at least get the 1865 book out as both 1864 and 1865 are the two dates in the series where there are just so many die marriages.

Thanks for replying 'westcoin', hope you will get all the information (either book or photocopy [can be cheaper at times]) necessary for your interests, especially on the 2 cents varieties which you seem to like.
My money goes towards ancient/medieval reference material, if I can afford it.
Have some Krause's though for modern and pre-modern coins and also an old copy of your Red Book.
