For the amount of money involved, buy a certified one. Are you able to tell if it's been pressed, therefore not original or EPQ?

Yes be careful, do not pay full price until certified!

A raw bill of this value needs to be certified, unless you're paying half of the trend.

Thanks for your advice. I will ask the seller if they can send it for certification. I am new to grading notes so I probably wouldn't trust myself to do it right. I would definitely want to see the bill in person before I even make an offer.

How much is the seller asking for the note? When it comes to UNC, it can be UNC, Choice UNC, or GEM UNC.

According to the Charlton catalog, a Coyne-Towers signature $100 Devil's Face, is valued at $900, $1100, $1500 for UNC, CH UNC, GEM UNC.
For the Beattie-Coyne signature the prices are $1150, 1450, 1850.

I doubt you could get if for $100-110 if it is really UNC.

MoneyPenny: Those prices in Charltons.... You will find at most shows are competitive at 60-80% of Charlton prices..

Thanks for your responses. I was just asking because I thought I might get a deal if the seller didn't have lots of information on it. The seller has no listed price but a sticker on the sleeve in the photo says $210.

I hope this link works.

Shieplier, I would not buy it with a picture like that. You can only see one corner - and it has a bump on it. IMO the bill has been in a wallet. I can see down the middle (under "Bank" from "Canadian Bank Note Company Limited) that there's a backward fold, characteristic of a light wallet fold.

There is not way that banknote is UNC, maybe a XF or XF-.

Having said that, the seller has very interesting stuff.

That $100 specimen

Those two spec notes are actually very nice!..

I would agree that this is NOT UNC and is at best AU50 or EF +..

I also like the Royal Bank of Canada $10 note.. while it looks like it has been wet pressed... all in all it's very clean and appealing..

Thank you. I will reconsider buying the note, but I will see if the seller will take an offer of maybe $150 to be safe.
I see the wallet folds now, and the one corner in the picture looks to be bent.

Yes there is a slight bend in the that top left hand corner.. and who knows what behind the other corners...

There's also a nice "crisp" feel that the very top of a note has that will fade fast if it's been in a wallet or pocket too long... something a photo can't ever pick up on but can make all the difference IMO..

The margins are also slightly off centre and I think it even mentioned that on the sticker... this actually brings down the value ... all of the following things need to be brought up if you're going to negotiate on price

And all of that only seeing one side of the banknote!
