It doesn't appear to be punched into the coin from the reverse. Is it the same color as the planchet or a different one? If raised, it looks taller than all the other devices on the coin?

Well the only thing I could think of if it is a mint error, the die field must have been damaged with a strong contact in the field. It is too consistent to be a die dot I feel. The problem with the die damage theory is that there should have been many that looked like that, but this is the first time I've seen this. So the jury is still out on this one right now for me.

I would keep it safe for now. See if any more turn up. Maybe see if more turn up. You are only out the cost of the coin to keep it for now?

Your mint mark is high between the 4 and the 5. I'm baffled by what my coin has. Should I send it somewhere to get checked out? Would that be worth it?
