Halo around stars on obverse indicates cleaning. As mentioned, the scratch would also give a details grade. For wear, appears as AU 50.

The surfaces do not look original and that scratch is pretty bad

Why are you having it graded? Looks AU and is really a bullion coin.

Dent below the peak of the coronet.

It's actually pretty easy to see. The coin is lit from below, which can be seen from the other features. The dent above the L is shadowed towards the light, and lit away from the light, just like every other feature which sticks a surface towards the light. That makes it a v-shaped indentation in the coin. The lighting proves it. Had it been a break, a raised feature, the side closest to the light would have been the one lit.

By all means let us know what ANACS says. My guess would be AU53 but it could grade as high as AU55; Unless there's luster we're not seeing and then maybe AU58.

Whatever that is in the coronet tip should not keep it from grading problem-free.

AU50/53 range, I can't tell from your photos but there are 6 (I think) RPD varieties on this date.

Alrighty, its been shipped out to ANACS 15 day service plus another 15 days for the error attribution. I also sent out a 1851 gold dollar with a rim Cud in the same packet.
