I see no reason you can not post a link to the auction so members can be warned.

yes that is disappointing. What gets me about ebay is the policy of returns, I think it should be determined strictly on the sellers choice. If you choose no refund for buyer, keep it that way. If you choose the route of refund, then determine it on the sellers reason for it and the experience with the buyer.

It is a pain of when the buyer looks at the listing and buys it puts the seller through the trouble of sending an item to be looked over by the buyer and then sent back...

Well no, throw a brick in his window, replace his licence plate, leave something disgusting on his front porch but what I have noticed is that I never actually have time for revenge and things like that which is probably a good thing a way. I was being sarcastic last comment so don't worry because instead of hugging if I were you I would want to throw hands with him very much.

OK, as someone who sells a lot of stuff on ebay and occasionally makes mistakes on listings.... give the guy the benefit if the doubt. You are out nothing at this point.

I do a lot of trading on ebay....probably 1500 + buys and 3000+ sells...and I have seen no seller try to do a bait and switch. I have seen lots of sellers honour sales of $100 coins to me for a small fraction of the value cause I got lucky on an auction. Similarly, I have sold someone on this site a $40 coin for $2 because that's the way it worked out. I suspect it is not a bad seller....just a mistake uploading a photo etc .etc.

BTW, on let's say 3000 sells I have had 0 returns. I have had to cancel maybe 10 sales due to listing errors with photos etc. I have had probably 25 frauds committed against me by either the postal service or buyers who claimed non-delivery. The system is rigged against sellers, not buyers.

I think you are taking thus far too seriously and personally. In reality you lost nothing but the opportunity to buy a coin you really wanted. It is not like he cheated you, he merely backed out of a deal.

I would be willing to bet, there is not a collector among us who either through, the want ads, craigslist, ebay, friend of a friend, has not had aleast one deal fall through due to someone backing out at the last minute. I know I have.

File a complaint with ebay and move on, a pitfall of collecting ..... anything.

I agree with Smallcentguy, you got your money back move on.
Pointless to even want to leave feedback not knowing for sure what happened.

No harm no foul, you are all worked up over absolutely. Nothing. You really have no loss here. It is probably a simple mistake. If you were carrying on like this in a major retail store , you would be escorted to the front door by store security.
I totally agree with SCG ,Pman, and Denco.
You want to talk ebay sure. In my opinion there has never been a business I have been involved in where an honest seller is totally at the mercy of a buyer. ebay is totally for the buyer. If you have a problem with the above seller take it up with ebay I am sure they will find a miracle way to help. Move on next bus comes buy in ten minutes.

Mistakes do happen. Especially for higher volume sellers. It is very tough to keep tabs on hundreds of listings and the physical inventory/space they take up in storage. Lots of room for mistakes with photos, descriptions, locations of the items that are for sale, etc.

Could not agree more with pennyman, smallcent, pacific, denco and poker...

Mistakes do happen. Does not sound malicious at all.

Almost anything you want as far as a coin will come along plenty of times...

After thinking this over I've come to the conclusion that I'll just minimize what I buy on the Bay and go to actual stores when I want to buy something unique. If I see a specific coin in future on the bay I'll contact the seller to find out if There's a mistake before I bid. It's ironic that this would happen after stalking ebay for months to find this error and then not get it and perhaps it adds to my bitterness. irregardless of reason ebay should have a block seller/buyer button. That way people can minimize dealings they wish to avoid. I don't sell and to be honest I don't know how listings go. You would think that if you had a roll of the same coin you would post a stock photo clearly stating such on the description but I digress. I've resolved to let it go and be diligent in future. Are there any other members that do not sell at all and only buy on ebay?

Vanislkid-
Aren't we being a little hypocritical here?
Wasn't it just last week when you posted a thread about returning a coin you did not want after looking at it?

There is nothing wrong in returning any item to the seller if it is not what you ordered or change your mind after seeing the item. This applies to any item sold online for you are just buying from a picture and description without seeing the actual item.
It is part of doing business online.
If a seller posts a no return policy, I simply don't buy from them.

Fixguy-
I'm sure there are many members including myself who only buy on ebay but don't sell. For me it seems like too much of a hassle for the small quantity that I sell. I use other outlets
when I want to get rid of some of my coins.

I have bought up more than a thousand close to 2 thousand coin off of the ebays seller guys during 10 years time now and have hardly never had the problems anytime.

I learn at the beginning theres lots of fish out there in that ocean and only to buy from the good seller who has the longtime reputation and integrty from the comments of his customers.

And only buy from the guy who give lots of good picture and if not ask for one no?

And really important is to NEVER BUY FROM A GUY WHO HE DOES NOT BACK UP HIS SELLINGS WITH THE RETURNS ALLOWED!

And always remember the old added what was once said by a smart cookie guy that "if the thing it sounds like it is more too good than to be the trued - then probably its not " eh? :)
