The 1887 is fine, but pass on the 1921, it's cleaned/has a lot of hairlines

I don't doubt the authenticity of either but they're both seriously overpriced. The 1921-D is a worn coin of huge mintage and the 1887 has a cheek gouge which puts poor Miss Liberty in serious cosmetic trouble.

They are both "real" but the 21 has been cleaned to death.

Ouch on the 1921-D ... harshly cleaned indeed.

Politely suggest that you pass on both ... and wait for an honest example.

Do you guys know of any other affordable and old, and worth collecting, US coins to get. I am looking to add an old US coin to my collection.

You can do a 7070 type set with mid grade, nice coins for a reasonable price. It's just like anything...the nicer you get, the more it costs. There are a few that can set you back, but by and large most of the coins are still reasonable in my opinion. It's a fun set to do.

I think the most important question here is how to find you US coins at reasonable prices in Canada. Those prices ought to buy you a nicer Morgan (if that's your wish) even on your side of the border.

Gather up 50 *quality* posts on this forum and someone can sell you a nice Morgan for a low price. You can usually trust CCF members. I think I have an extra 1921 Morgan, but I'd have to make sure.

Lots of local coin shops in your general area. Should be able to get a really nice one for less than 50 bucks Canadian. Have fun.

I must concur. They're both real, but you could certainly find better prices. The 21 has seen much better days.
