No. They don't separate/laminate like the copper/steel/nickel planchets. The disturbance on them is usually a split plating issue or a struck through with a piece of copper plating from another coin. Anyway that is what I've seen so far. Interesting article on how they can make other denominations planchets and in different colors. The article also mentioned that the zinc planchets do not need to be annealed. They are ready to go after they are bought by the U.S. Mint.

This may seem odd, but the Zlincoln is the "purest" metal coin we strike. It's not an alloy, unlike the rest. Not much cause for a pure metal to laminate.

So let me get this right.

I am seeing in the pic clearly a- "Die Crack" -that is split apart and peeling back along with a little shift.

Ok I will have to go with Lamination not a Die Crack from what I see in the Pic.

The Zinc Cent is the worst cent ever made. Zinc Cents are shameful pieces of work. Change that rots. Total waste of money on the Mints/Gov side of things trying to save money.

coop says no lamination's on zincolns so it's not a lamination. I am no pro but I don't think it's a die crack or a lamination,I think it's a plating issue, split copper plating. So now let me poke the bear some more ,is it an error a variety or nothing but a toss back?

Well, I have to agree that choosing a metal normally used as a sacrificial anode was a bit odd for coinage.

Well. If it is copper it can be a lamination. But it is a die crack. THe shifting is from the crack having space between the the part of the die and the part it is separated from. It is a die crack, it is raised, not incuse. If it was a lamination it would look like it was peeling.

I dont think it looks raised at all...except for the part of the edges that are possibly from the split plating-id bet a cent on it not being a crack
