Thank you, I checked it out. PCGS slabbed too! I wonder if that is the Jim Braun specimen?

I believe his name is spelled Jym Braun. I was in contact with him when he found that - was in a Whitman penny folder in the slot for 1969S...in there as a normal coin.

I would like to be able to photograph a 1969S doubled die for coppercoins at some point...and doesn't have to be uncirculated!

Yea, Jym Braun ( JB ). He used to go to the coin store I frequent. We used to joke about the rarity of this coin because Jeff Oxman also frequented the same coin store and he found one too! As a matter of fact, Jeff is the one who verified mine was the BIG ONE. When I found this I never knew what a doubled die was, except for the 1955 and 1972 lincoln's. I'm sure some of you know when you cherrypicked an extremely rare find and your "heart skips a beat". Well, I didn't have that with this one because I didn't know anything about it. Someday I'll find another one......I hope. Until then I have my "heart skips a beat" when I cherrypicked the 1998-s Proof with " Close AM" reverse!

The only way I'll sell it is if I find a better one. I only have another 16,000 pennies to go through(started with 95,000). After I've gone through the rest, I'll add a post called 95,000 pennies with the results of varieties I pulled out. ty, joe

Hello all. I am new to this forum, fairly new to collecting (few months). Love the site/forums...so much information!

First, what a nice find you have. Very nice coin. I have been searching through all my coins/books for errors recently. After seeing this thread, I now know that my 1969S is not a double die, but I am fairly certain its a double strike.

Anyone know if this is worth anything? I am having troubles finding a good way to take pictures of this. I have what looks like doubling on the date and the UST in Trust. I'd like to post some pics to have you guys verify this for me. Thanks for any suggestions or help!

Hey, JM, trade you a couple of 1972 DDOs for it.

WOW. If you have the earliest die state known, you already possess the finest known. Later to the high grade red collectors. Leave the registry hype to the rich coin buyers. Yours is neca... uh... coneca land my friend.

Your Coin seems to me to be currently way undervalued.

I went to FUN show in FL. last Jan. and there was a 1935 DDR buff in 65 that failed to sell at 35K or so. 2- 65's known.
A 65 just sold for 104K+. Triple. Your coin is much more rare and way cooler. Love that buff tho.

Anacs used to grade real tough years ago. Perhaps a regrade in in order, but then again, why bother? Fine line between gem and 58. On any given grade day?

Recent 1969 DDO cent ebay seller must have had no choice. Good investment on a true modern rarity for whoever made purchase if sold. Sure caught my eye.

I do not believe that there are more that 6-15 1969 DDO cent coins actually known. This coin has been known for many years as a very rare coin. My guess is many many regrades. Maybe by at least 2X?

What a monster. I say keep it! Thanx for sharing.....G.
