Gun Safe

NO. But then again many things play a factor. Guns safes are good for keeping guns out of the hands of kids...keeping thieves out however is a different story. I could be into your average gun safe and out faster then the time it would take you to walk your dog.

Just remember, and as you said, fire resistant. Not much if really fire proof. For example if in a fire your safe gets hot, anything plastic will melt all over your coins. Anything cardboard or paper too will get hot. Maybe not burn but will get really a big mess and again all over your coins. And too anything else inside too may well be effected by the heat such as your coins. Your safe eventually becomes an oven so the heat stays and becomes even more intense.
And as to being safe. Guess what you would do if a crook had a gun to you or your family's heads. That safe would open fast.
One of my neighbors had his safe taken out of his home although it was bolted down. Criminals are sort of well prepared.

A good friend of mine had a large fireproof gun safe. HE deployed to Afghanistan and when he came home he could not remember the combo. My uncle used to work for Stanley locksmiths said he could get it open but could take a while to crack t he lock. I told him we were getting a new safe anyway, he said "Oh, then just hit the combo dial with a big hammer." I laid the $1200 safe on its back, and cracked the center of the dial with a sledge hammer. One hit the combo lock pushed throught the door and the rods retracted. Door literally jumped open from the shock of the hit.

An acetylene torch will cut the side open without much damage to anything inside. Its portable and can be carried and used by only one man. A gun safe is good to keep kids out, but a thief is a different story. I have a nice size gun safe comparable if not larger then the one mcshilling mentioned and was torn open with ease by a jackhammer at my store. I will take pictures when I get the chance. I now use that as a decoy safe. Its about 800 pounds. I added a round major jewelry safe which weighs almost 4 times that and is much much more ideal.

I KNOW RIGHT! It was just days after the safe was put in the store. Only 3 other stores in the plaza. We think it was someone from one of the other stores. We upgraded to the round major, Added HD cameras, and security system. Good thing for insurance! If it happens again, I told my partner were going to put a hidden live electric wire to it and see what happens next time someone breaks in and tries to touch it. Whenever it needs to be opened you we can just switch the breaker. My only worry is that one of us forget to switch the breaker lol

used to sell alot of diamond blades never used one though. could an angel grinder diamond blade really cut through inches of steel? I kinda feel like itd take something with alittle more power and probably burn through a good many of the blades.
