Anyone have a picture of an actual cracked die?

I have thousands of pics that I shot myself; been looking at cracks for a very_long_time. Heck, we have a "post your die cracks" thread.

I meant pictures of an actual die that is cracked...not a cracked die coin.

I think it looks like a die gouge . It doesn't go over any of the devices so on the die that means it's higher in the die itself than the incised design elements inside of the die. If it where a crack it would break the highs and lows of the designs in the die. Excuse my lack of descriptive terminology. Hop you understand what I'm say but definitely not a crack

I imagine pics of those might be hard to come by... once dies are worn out aren't they destroyed?

They are defaced and sold.

But most of the time you don't see the devices left much in place.

I recall seeing dies for sale on the U.S. Mint site years ago... I think it was for Statehood Quarters. But haven't seen anything like that in recent years.

Crack or gouge, I find it interesting because it almost follows the Georgia coast.

I know it's impossible to get a concensus, but just for kicks and giggles, how many think "crack," and how many think "gouge?" I just want to label it as correctly as possible.

Thank you!

Here is a Die Dent on a SC quarter. Plate coin in CPG. For the sake of argument I'll concede that it may be a Die Gouge.

Coop, I too think a die dent -- maybe from another die. Hard to say.
