Yeah, that franklin MAY be worth sending off for grading. That should pull off an easy PR67.

I'd be surprised if it came back 68.

Very nice looking set

As others are saying the nickel really stands out.

My first thought is that, it might be a "black beauty"

Most are a couple years earlier, if it were mine I would
be checking it out more ... and see if they had black beauties as late as 1961.

Either way .. I really like the color of the nickel ..
and the half does look like it is a nice grade.

For the record, a PR67 1961 Franklin - no cameo, that's obvious - isn't worth the cost of grading. A pair - 61 and 62 NGC PR67's - just sold for $64 at Heritage including BP. And about the only area on the coin I'd seriously consider grading in these images is right around the date.

Where I see a mark above the first 1. Or maybe not.

I dunno; I'd be sore tempted to crack the set for that Nickel. Just to look at the color without the cellophane.

I like it a lot. And I'm with Dave, that Jefferson looks like it's probably a beauty.

For some reason, those old proof nickels produce some awesome toning. My 1962 proof set has a toned nickel like that. Your set looks great!

My '61 proof set nickel also has some awesome toning, but the plastic has a pinhole in it.
