Magnetic Canadian Cents

Oddly enough, the source of some of my confusion had a clue. The fold on the Whitman notes that in 2006 the P (designated for copper plated steel cents) was dropped and the RCM logo used in its place going forward. So the magnetic 2008 RCM cent is correct. Interestingly, the folder calls for a 2008 plain and a 2008P. Since the P was dropped a year and a half earlier, the folder should have been updated to reflect. We shouldn't be able to find the 2008P cents. If so, I'd imagine a pretty penny would be offered.

C&C is good site I like the fact you can just click on any year and see all the other info that comes up with it. I always back check with a Charlton, or Coins of Canada book..then ebay and google and so on, glad I could be of help.

I did find out recently that Whitman has printed out a new folder to replace #2480 (Small Cent #2). Unfortunately I haven't actually seen one yet but plan on buying one online soon. I don't know which coins that they made holes for and which one's they left out. All the pics I've seen online only show the cover photo; no interior.

I'm hoping the new folder DOES NOT leave a hole for one or two of those rare thousand dollar pennies they minted in the last several years. It seems like every folder includes one of those hard to find and pricey varieties.

I finally ordered the revised "final" Whitman Canadian cent folder last night. When it arrives I will post a scan of the interior to see what's listed.

I ordered seven folders (all Canadian) to complete my needs. Besides the 1989-2012 Small Cent folder, I also bought a Large Cent, a 2013-up nickel, a 1968-2014 fifty-cent, a 1968-1986 and 2009-up dollar, and a $2 folder. (I don't plan on focusing on any silver coins greater than the quarters.)

I would wish you the best of luck finding a non-magnetic 2006P for $75. None have been offered for sale for quite a while....the last ones were more like 15x to 30x that price. For $75 you could pick up a nice 2006 magnetic no P no logo. Less tough to find than the 2006P non-magnetic by a long way, though still scarce. The holder has no space for that one either.

The 2006P Non Magnetic has a population of less then 120
while the 2005P Non magnetic now has a population of about 200 examples certified.

Yes; same here. Haven't found any 2005-P or 2006-P of either type yet. I also need the "plain" 2006 magnetic. The last Canadian price guide I have has the plain 2006 at around $50 for AU and down to $5 for one in VG condition. Like the rest of you I might never fill every hole in the last cent folder. I've had better luck filling some of my silver Canadian folders.
