Man, that reverse die is seriously overworked. I'll bet it came out of the press in pieces. I would have to agree with mid AU for this.

A lot going on. A small Cud about 9 o'clock reverse. I hate to say it but the coin is a bit too clean, hope I'm wrong.

Here are some closer images to give you a better idea of the luster and the date.
I'm still not sure about the date. but I think there is an extra serif on the lower part of the '7'.

It's a beautiful coin, and yes it might be totally original. Just seemed a bit too clean besides the mark at 7 o'clock on the obverse.

I think this coin was really high MS with minimal contact marks in a bag and circulated for a short time before a collector pulled it out of circulation. Just worn down beautiful surfaces.
