if the coin was rotated to the right or left its one of those ways and as it was struck multiple times

I see the seven, but there's no other explanation than cwb's "bunnies in the clouds" theory.

Yes! Where Teachmind111 has out lined. I will work on getting better pictures. I compared it to multiple coins and none of the other 2007 D pennys displayed a 7 on his shirt.

I see what "looks" like a 7 but I think it's a plating issue.

Looks alike contact altered the coin. Distorted the shape of the bust.

I looked in a bag until I found a couple of circulated 2007-D's and did an overlay comparison of them. I think it is just part of the design that happens to resemble a 7.

I see the "7" but then if you unfocus on it, it looks like the design of his jacket. Kinda like the "do you see a young lady or old lady" picture below. LOL Enjoy!

I see it. Also, and it may just be the angle at which the photo was taken, but his nose is very pointy.

Contact on a coin will add a line, but it is incuse (sunk into the coin). The often will look raised, (like the EPU on the shield cents) but rotating the coin with the light in the same position. Looking again at this this thread it maybe a stain on the coin? How to tell? A stain will not be incuse or raised on the coin. It will be flat leaving just a coloration on the area in question that the brain views a digit. If it were a literal number, where are the rest of the devices that should be there it was lets say a double strike? So the way you could have a single digit/letter would be from a struck through a dropped letter.

This could be mirrored or normal in shape. (depending how the dropped letter fell) But I'm not seeing it incuse on your coin.
