Quote: but I thought for $7, I couldn't pass this one up! I think you did rather well, these coins wouldn't be that plentiful in the States. Do you have the 1951 and 1954 commemorative florins? If not PM me with an address and I will send them to you

Yeah, there are heaps in North America,i don't know why, perhaps WW11 Soldiers hoarded them when in Oz. because they are a great looking Coin. Lady I met in the early days of ebay in Oz. has a Antique store in California and its a regular thing for people to bring the 27 Florin in thinking its a valuable Coin, she sells them to me for US$10 but to be honest with the A$ under 80c US its getting to be a no win situation except for the occassional exceptional coin.

trout, look at the word AUSTRAILIA on the 1954 you posted....under the R...there is almost like a second R down there. is that some kind of large spread localised DDR? I think it derseves looking in to further.
Feel free to call me Will.

Ok, I have been AGONIZING over this one for a few days. There definitely IS doubling on the 1954...but you are going to laugh your heads off. The Mylar of the flip was so old that the coin had imprinted its devices into it. The coin then shifted in the flip which caused it to look like hub doubling. I did not realize what was going on until I pulled the coin out of the flip "to get a better look" and the doubling had magically disappeared! LOL!

that is disappointing but at least now we know......would have been an IMPRESSIVE DDR if real though.
