Well it appears that with the (almost certain) passage of this bill, we in the U.S. may get our first colorized coin in 2018: http://www.coinnews.net/2015/07/17/...se-approval/It still has to pass in the Senate (already passed in the House) and be signed into law by the POTUS. I have mixed feelings about colorized coins and I know there are plenty of people here with strong opinions regarding them. While certainly a worthy cause I hope the U.S. Mint doesn't turn into a Perth Mint or RCM. I do like the fact that we could see a .999 silver medal with this.

I already have given a few friends the 2006-P Canadian Breast Cancer Quarter. I am interested in the US half dollar version.

Looks like this is almost a done deal:

The bill passed in the Senate on Tuesday and already passed in the House, so all that's left is for President Obama to sign. Well, then there's the design and production phases, but, you know what I mean.

And now it is a done deal.

I wonder if the price of the gold coin will be affected by the fact that pink gold is an alloy that contains about 75% gold (vs. the 90% in standard gold coin issues).

And with Obama's signature, the US commemorative programs for 2018 are now set:
1) World War I American Veterans Centennial (Up to 350,000 silver dollars)
2) Breast Cancer Awareness (Up to 50,000 rose gold $5 coins, 400,000 silver dollars and 750,000 CuNi half dollars)
With the Boys Town Centennial and Lions Club International set for 2017, the next year available for new coin proposals is now 2019.

Gotta say... the next two years will probably be expensive ones for me with the '17 and '18 commemoratives. Well, depending on the designs anyway. I'm a fan of the causes so that's half the battle.

I'm just thankful that only one program in 2017 (Boys Town) and only one in 2018 (Breast Cancer Awareness) includes a gold coin! (Unlike this year!)

, especially with the price of gold on the rise. @commems, do you purchase both proof and unc?

I prefer the UNC coins so I limit my purchases to that version of each issue.

And those are generally, somewhat counter-intuitively, the issues with the lower mintage #'s (vs. their proof counterparts). Which is nice.

Some interesting commemorative coins coming the next two years. Quote: ...the next year available for new coin proposals is now 2019. The Apollo 11 commemorative better be one of them.

I've got all but one of the modern commemorative coins, but I am started to get tired of them. There are just too many of them, and cost of keeping up with the series is too much. I have no interest in coins that commemorate breat cancer.
