VF-20. Is the reverse a Greaser, or did that not really effect LC's?

Those pictures are a little dark, but I will say it is a F-15

I'd sure go with 20, but I think amida17 is right, EAC would probably grade it a 12 or 15. Still a beautiful coin, and congratulations!

PCGS says F-12. I wish you F-15 and VF-20 guys worked for PCGS :)

Nice coin no matter the TPG a oppinion. A fair grade maybe, but F is more of a EAC grade IMHO. I think the better TPG grade would be VF20. Also, I believe it was Struck Through Grease.

What a beautiful, early cent. Nice colour too. I think F15 is a proper grade for this coin. Possibly the minor marks in the fields, which are absolutely common in such coins, caused PCGS to net it down a few points. No matter, a very nice 1798. Have you attributed it yet? It should be easy with the reverse break.

@GERMANICVS - not yet. I have a copy of Penny Whimsy headed my way soon. EAC is very very new to me so I am going to have to start from the ground up. I have both a 10x loupe and a 60x micro so that should help me figure it out. I'll let you know. :) I think this would be an ANACS F-15, not sure if NGC would go F-15 or leave it F-12. I don't think that it's worth a regrade attempt with another TPG. For some reason I tend to prefer copper in NGC. Not sure why, just a "thing" I have. Perhaps it's the slab design, or just some subliminal thing.

It seems to be S-164 or S-165. Both of which are scarcer die varieties at R-4. This is just a quick evaluation since I do not have my references with me. You can confirm the attribution via more through comparison via HA archives or here: http://www.largecents.net/collectio...8drbust.htmlHope it turns out to be a scarcer variety. That adds to the fun!
