I don't think we have done a Mercury dime thread in a while. The problem with doing threads about early coins or odd denominations like Half Dimes, is that there are very few people who collect them as a series. Most collectors of these coins are specialists. Many early coins are also out of most people's budgets to begin with. Most people (including me) only get them to put them towards a type set. Mercury dimes are VERY popular, and lots of people collect them. popular series = more collectors = more contributors = more nice coins for us to look at!

Heh. I like the idea of doing Morgans, except that I bags of them covering every year (though not every mint mark) and I can't imagine finding the time to actually go through and photograph them all. I do have some select Morgans I'd be happy to show off, however.

How about another "7 Days of Trade dollars" thread? We haven't done that since 2012, and I certainly have picked up a nice example since then.

I think Morgans would be great, but in order to keep the thread from getting cluttered, I would break it into Morgans by mint. For example, a 'days of' Morgans from San Fransisco thread. Then a separate 'days of' thread for New Orleans Morgans, etc....

Morgan dollars have been done more recently than both Carson City and Mercury. Mercury is the oldest. I change my vote to Mercury.

I would like to recommend that we significantly expand our horizons and open the door to the unlimited world of non-US coins. US coins have an extremely limited history comparatively speaking in light of the relatively young evolution of the US nation. Plus it seems like CCF has already adequately rehashed a majority of these coins in one way or another. What about displaying one's top non-US coins covering a 100 year time span one week at a time starting at 500 - 600 AD, then 601 - 700 AD...thru. 1900 - 2015? Some of the designs out there around the world are absolutely intriguing. Also CCF has several seasoned international members capable of relaying the locally (non text book) historically significant stories behind the creation of these noteworthy coins. That might be another suggestion, when applicable, for participants to implement: tying each featured coin to a significantly distinguished political figurehead and/or documented event etc. This somewhat longer than usual compilation could evolve into one of the most interesting threads ever created by a much greater array of participating CCF members. IMO

This is the US Classic Forum, so the subject matter has to relate. I highly encourage others to start "Days of" threads in other forums where the subject matter is appropriate. I would love to see some Canadians get in on this, as well as others from other nations.

I like the Mercury dime concept at this point. It has been a while since we've seen the Winged Liberty Beauties!! I'm out of town until next Monday. I will build the "Days of..." page when I return. (I will continue to entertain other suggestions, however!)
