The location on you coin is very close, but a bit too far west compared with 073. The split serifs are also slightly different.

It has the same markers as the 73 far as I can tell, I had better go back and check...

I just did an overlay and it looks like a close match. I just do not know how close it has to be for it to be a match. I don't know that I am allowed to post an image here because I think the coppercoins images are copywrited.
Have you tried an overlay coop? I know that I am an amateur at doing them. I am sure your results would be better than mine!

I have the simplest program for photo management: Microsoft Picture It. I acquired it many years ago with a new computer. It may be available online free, now - I don't know.
The way I do it with this program (maybe a similar way with whatever program you have) is go to "Effects" then to "Transparent Fade", then click and drag over the image you went to lay it over.

Pete: I did an overlay. It was very close, but not an exact match.
Jeff: What markers match?

Weird!! I can't match any off coppercoins now, I guess I've been looking at too many Lincolns and my eyes are shot! So,if not a -73, what else is close Coop?

If a photo of a coin is taken at a slight angle, it is difficult to match it with a photo that was taken straight on. To do a proper overlay, both images need to be shot from the same angle. I think this is an issue when trying to do overlays that are very close but don't match perfectly.

Even lighting makes a difference. If you can determine which direction the lighting is, then you can copy the same light direction. Note these differences of light angles: Look at these images to see if they are from the same die? Then click on the line below for the answer. I am a bit late with this response, but I wanted first to obtain permission to use the image in this overlay. The image can be found here: http://coppercoins.com/lincoln/dies...ie_state=mdsI am still thinking that this looks like a 73 - I even think I see 2 tiny die scratches moving SE from the 9. I know my skills using an overlay are lacking, but I am wanting to understand what it is I am not seeing on this. Any help would be appreciated!
