You know you're old when people are collecting coins that weren't even issued when you started collecting.

Quote: You can buy the 82's as a set pretty cheaply My goal is to complete the set by CRH. I have been saving all of my nicer 1982's, I have a tube full. Problem is I don't have a scale and the ping test isn't working for me because I have pretty severe hearing loss. Is there another way to tell which are copper/zinc?

Nice to put together a set of Lincolns by CRH. there is a simple balance scale that you can make in less than a minute from an ice cream stick or even better, a wooden tongue depressor. Illustrations might be on Lincoln Cent RESOURCE web site.

For my Whitman Classic, I have put my 82s together from CRH. It's interesting to observe the distribution of each type. For my Dansco, I'll buy some nice, shiny red BU like Fuzzy's example!

I swear you could get a 1982 penny from the ground right now if you wanted to.

Scales are priceless in this hobby....not only do you need them to figure the 82's out, I also weigh every 83 just in case one happens to weigh the magical 3.1. They are rather cheap and can be found at your local office supply store. Congratulations on your as I just hit my 100...whoohoo!
